The Heart of Virginia – Between the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains
If you think that the county of Bedford, Virginia sounds familiar, it may be because it is the home of the National D-Day Memorial.
Bedford County is also well-known for being a lake community to the grand Smith Mountain Lake.
While Doug and Joy were both born in Roanoke, Virginia, after they married in 1997, they moved to Bedford County and have been delighted with country-living long since. They are the proud owners of four dogs, Eddie, Pandora, Apollo, and Abby.
Past Work History
Joy began working at the young age of 14 by attaining a work-force pass for teenagers. She enjoyed her first year of working as an assistant janitor in the school she attended during the year.
At 16, Joy began work for the restaurant chain known as Hardees.After just three months on staff, she became the full-time night manager for the company, handling all duties required to manage a fast-food establishment. Joy continued to work in the restaurant industry until 1995 when she began college to focus on a Psychology degree.
After graduating, Joy went on, not to use her degree in the old-fashioned sense, but as a writer who created a book for teens grieving the loss of a loved one, known as Cover Me: Living, Loving, and Learning Through Loss.
For the next few years Joy also worked as an administrator for an international company known as Maple Leaf Bakery.
Joy’s Writing Career
Joy has enjoyed a full-bodied writing career since 2001. She has clients from large and small corporations and is well-known for her ability to create highly educational and high-quality content on a huge variety of subjects.
Joy’s Social Media Management
